A “man” and his car can be seen as a very intimate relationship but a majority of the focus is on the car and not necessarily the person who built it and the influences of the area in which they reside. Through this photographic series it is not only about the car but also my friend Jack and the environment in which he has owned his car.
Bryan Birks was a big influence on this series, in the past most of my work has been about cars not necessarily the owner and their story. Through a toolbox littered with every wrench, socket, and tool a mechanic might need to the shelves filled with car cleaning products, old car parts, and parts yet to be installed there is more to my friend than just a probably loud, obnoxious car. The level of care and pride he takes in his car can be felt throughout the photographs.
